New Parent Information
Look for a new parent table at the coming meeting and the first days of band camp!!
When and how often are practices held?
We have a few spring practices to get familiar with the music and your section, then we have two weeks of band camp. After camp and once school starts we have an after school rehearsal on Mondays from 3 to 6pm, and an evening rehearsal on Wednesdays from 6 to 9pm. Until Cavalcade and after that only as needed.
What are the booster fees used for?
Booster fees cover the cost of main course and drinks for band camp as well as a show shirt for the year, and new red polo for your summer parade uniform. Dues also pay for meals before festivals and long distance football games plus snacks , as well as extra instructors for camp.
How can I volunteer, and do I need my clearances?
We have many opportunities to volunteer during the season, Chaperones, loading and unloading the truck, and at our annual Cavalcade. If you intend to chaperone, you WILL need your clearances to be on file at the school. You will find a link to these on our chaperone page.
Do I need to purchase a Uniform?
The only part of the uniform that is your responsibility is the purchasing of shoes, and black CREW socks.. The order form can be found on the Documents page. They generally run around 30 to 35 dollars for band and depending on style 40 to 50 dollars for Guard.
Are the band trips mandatory?
No, the trips to perform outside of football games and band festivals are not mandatory, but highly recommended. It is a great experience to perform in many different venues and settings.
Are there fundraising opportunities?
We have fundraising opportunities 12 months out of the year. They are Hoagies, Scrip, Candy sales, Pointsettia sales, and many more that each member can use to help defray the cost of a trip or booster fee. With some exceptions.
Do the kids stay after school on Fridays before games?
Sometimes, if the game is far away and we leave early, then we ask that they stay and we will feed them. If its a work time constraint we usually do have large groups that do stay and order food before games,so no worries. (They quickly form groups and make plans for Friday nights!!)
How do I get them a ride to camp?
We will have a Car pool list posted at the June practice. If you do not see a name listed in your neighborhood that you know, please contact the band secretary and she will set up a ride for you.
