We have a parade this coming Friday, June 14th, where we will march through
Imperial. This is the parade that we will begin using our first year participants. IT IS NORMAL THAT THEY ARE NERVOUS, BUT AFTER THIS PARADE THEY WILL REALIZE THEY DON'T NEED TO WORRY. Strategically, we will place them in lines with upperclassmen to make it easier on them. Also, please make sure you
reassure them that ALL upperclassmen went through the customary butterflies"
of their first performance, and that it is a normal experience to do so. In
order to get them ready, all students are to report to the high school band
room at 5 PM so that we can rehearse the music, and march around the parking lot to put them at ease. Please encourage them to practice their music (beginning at measure 28) between now and then. After this brief rehearsal, we will bus the students to the parade, and they will be done around 7:30 PM. You may either pick your son/daughter up at the end of the parade, or back at the high school upon our return. The dress is khaki shorts and solid red shirts (band polos for the students who have them, and any solid red shirt for the new students, until they get their band shirts).
